MECILDI LESSONS

MECILDI LESSONS
OBDILCI has conducted some 50 measurements of linguistic diversity upon ccTLD or gTLD. The analysis of this set of results allow to laern sone lessons about Web Multilingualism and to complete the page Web Multilingualism reports, realized using DataProvider.com as data source, with a new set of reports, using MECILDI V1 as source.
In synthesis, the results confirm the already high (but with high variance) and growing level of multilingualism of the web ecosystem, but add some new characteristics:
- Major European languages are the first beneficiary of web multilingualism : English, German, French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Polish.
- The share of local languages is critically low, often null.
Hereafter the series of reports which represent the lessons learned from MECILDI V1 experience:
- TECHNICAL REPORT #1 : The desertic web of indigenous, vernacular, local or minority languages, OBDILCI, September 2026
- TECHNICAL REPORT #2: Revising the actual figures for languages presence in the Web. OBDILCI, September 2026
- TECHNICAL REPORT #3: Web Multilingualism : analysis and typology proposal illustrated by 40 examples, OBDILCI, September 2026
