How to read those curves?

Unique visitors accounts for the number of different persons (associated to a unique IP number) who have visited the website during one of the specified months.

Number of visits accounts  for the total number of visits to the website during one of the specified months.

Pages accounts  for the total number of webpages visited during one of the specified months.

Hits accounts for the number of clicks applied to the website during one of the specified months.

Bandwidth  accounts for the total Megabytes of data downloaded from the website during one of the specified months.

What are the events which are mentioned which have historically boosted the figures?

In August 2023 the data base access to the results of the model to create indicators of the presence of languages in the Internet was released : https://obdilci.org/Base. At the same date the methodology used to create the model was published in a well famed scientific journal: –The method behind the unprecedented production of indicators of the presence of languages in the InternetFrontiers Research Metrics & Analytics, Volume 8 – 2023. doi: 10.3389/frma.2023.1149347

In January 2024, the website was totally redesigned and win an international prize for its quality (https://obdilci.org/blog/obdilci-site-receives-web-guru-award/). In parallel, Research Outreach, a  Journal which mission is to divulgate scientific researches to a larger public have included in its last issue #139 of January 2024 an article titled Reliably exploring the presence of languages on the Internet, dedicated to OBDILCI’s researches. The article is available also in FrenchSpanish and Portuguese and a promotion campaign was launched in March 2024.

In October 2024, OBDILCI have seen the result of a convergent set of actions around a limited number of keywords boost its ranking on Search Engines and IA applications with subsequent effect in website traffic. The process is documented in French (Une stratégie réussie de découvrabilité en contenu scientifique, sans recours aux services SEO) and Spanish.

In March 2025, OBDILCI started to publish a series of reports about web multilingualism with new and original figures (see https://obdilci.org/projects/other/mlreports/).
